Prof. Tresa Pollock is the new principal editor of family of journals

January 21, 2016

Professor Tresa Pollock was recently appointed new principal editor of the Metallurgical and Materials Transactions (Met Trans) family of journals. She  will begin her editorship on September 1, 2016, working alongside current principal editor, David Laughlin, through the end of 2016 when he steps down from the position. Prof. Pollock was the 2005 TMS (The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society) President and a 2009 TMS Fellow and has served as an associate editro of Met Trans since 1997.

Jointly published by TMS and ASM International, Met Trans was founded as the Metallurgical Transactions journal in 1970, and has since expanded to encompass three highly respected, peer-reviewed archival journals for metallurgy and materials science: Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, B, and E.

The appointment of Prof. Pollock as the principal editor of Met Trans is a recognition of her leadership in the field of materials science and engineering, and her appointment brings a mark of distinction to UCSB. Since Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where the current principal editor is employed, has been the "home of metallurgy" for decades and Pittsburgh, home to CMU, is also the headquarters of TMS, the appointment of a principal editor at UCSB is a distinction that rests primarily in the new visibility that the presence of Prof. Pollock has brought to our Department and to the University.
