Dr. Jean Charles Stinville and Dr. McLean Echlin have received the 2018 Hetényi Award, from the Society for Experimental Mechanics, for their paper, “Sub-Grain Scale Digital Image Correlation by Electron Microscopy for Polycrystalline Materials during Elastic and Plastic Deformation".

The Hetényi Award is given annually for the Best Research Paper published in Experimental Mechanics in a given year; in this case, the year 2016. The paper was selected by the SEM Honors Committee from among a group of outstanding papers nominated for this award by the Experimental Mechanics Editorial Board. The selection of the paper is a well-deserved public recognition by professional peers of the quality and thoroughness of the approach that Stinville and Echlin took to this highly challenging problem.

The formal presentation of the 2018 Hetényi Award will take place at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 6, during the SEM Annual Conference and Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics that is scheduled June 4-7, 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina.
